Cupcakes from last weekend

These are the cupcakes I made last weekend for when James and I were babysitting, thinking of it they would have been pretty good for Halloween too!!  The cupcakes were from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook and frosting from Primose bakery. Decorated with sweets! Hope you like them!

Naked cupcake...

Thank heavens you put some clothes on!

Looking pretty sweeeet.

Plans and apologies.

Sorry I've been so busy I haven't had time to blog. I'm not sure how many people even read this blog but anyway I feel the need to apologise. I've been doing my community placement and doing my essay. Although it will all be worth it in the end. So just a quick blog post for today...

I ordered my Wee Wonderfuls book so I can crack on with some gifts for Christmas, I plan on making dolls for James's little sisters. For the little one I am thinking of making the inchworm and for the older sister I will make a doll, as she is much more girly.
I also need to start buying presents, I know what I'm getting my mum already and need to pop into Old Leigh to get it! I think I know what to get my Grandmother and I already have bought one of James's presents. I even bought wrapping paper from Ikea., red and white, it's very fetching. It's under two months til Christmas so I better get going.

In other news, Happy Halloween. James and I are going to have a night in, as we are both poor students, and watch some films. Hopefully we'll find some vintage ones as I find modern day horror films to be just a bit sick and wrong!

This morning...

Today I have...
  • baked cupcakes, 16 to be exact.
  • bought a vintage suitcase for £3.50.
  • cut my own fringe, it's suprisingly straight!
  • worn my lovely coat out for the first time.
  • cooked up a scheme about making a candy dress.
  • been to the shops and wandered around.
  • finally thought about doing some work!
What is everyone else up to on the sunny but chilly October afternoon?

This weekend

Amy, James and I went out on Saturday.

Me and James dressed a tad retro for a night out.

We went to Rossi and had mint choc chip ice cream.

Amy made Hugo a mini ice cream cone.

I think it's safe to say Hugo liked it.

Beehive success.

My beehive
I followed the video I posted below and used bump its. This is my first attempt so I'm pretty pleased with it! I'm going to use lots of hair spray and back combing so it's even bigger for the weekend.

Almost the weekend.

Thank god it's almost the weekend. I have a lot of homework to do and I have to fit it in around seeing my lovely best friend and my very handsome boyfriend. But I can hardly moan. I'm very happy with my life, it's pretty perfect. But a two thousand five hundred word essay is currently looming over my head and for some reason I'm lacking my normal motivation. I need to get my head around it and get on with this essay.

Well as you can see below, my winter wish list, one of those wishes may be coming true. Although said wish comes with a five month waiting list. But I can handle it. I'm very excited but don't want to post about it yet until I have it in grasped in my little mitts. All I can say is I'm so thrilled!!

Finally I have decided what I want to buy with birthday/Christmas money. A proper camera. I mean, I do love my digital one but I love the clarity and depth of more professional camera gives.
Fear not, I am not just thinking about myself! I have started my Christmas shopping and savings. I plan to buy my mum something quite special this year. I'm hoping to make some gifts, probably of the cake variety, I'm also hoping to get some more unique gifts this year for my family. I'm thinking Etsy.

Big plans and even bigger hair.

I have found my hair style for the weekend and possibly the rest of my life (if I'm any good at it). The Beehive! I've been wearing a very high bun for a while now and I feel the need to mix it up a bit. I stumbled across StrawberryKoiVintage's tutorial and now I'm obsessed with doing my hair like this! Her tutorial is very clear and gives that gorgeous big hair look I've been searching for. I've got my "bump its" on the way from Ebay, all I need to do now is get some hairspray. I've watched this video about a million times so that I learn how to do it for the weekend. I know it's going to take a lot of practise but I'm ready for the challenge! So I'm going all out sixties style for my weekend out with my best friend and boyfriend. Exciting. I will post pictures of my hair on Saturday. Fingers crossed I can pull it off.
The tutorial is posted above (with the lovely StrawberryKoiVintage's permission, obviously) Hope you enjoy it as much I do.

Plans for next weekend(s)

This Saturday.
  • Seeing one of my best friends from Reading.
  • Hopefully a trip to Sara's Garden in Old Leigh.
  • A night on the town with Amy and James.
This Sunday.
  • Hangover, most likely.
Next Saturday
  • Portobello Market with James.
  • Eating cupcakes at the Hummingbird Bakery, feels like some sort of mecca for me.
  • Babysitting my favourite girls with James.

I'm very excited.

Glorious Cords

These are my most recent purchase. A camel corduroy pleated peg trouser from Zara online, pictured above from the website. I've had my eye on them for a really long time, about a month, which to be honest is a long time in my world. James recently bought some dark brown cords from H&M (no cords in the women's section though, how disappointing) and I've decided to bite the bullet and just buy the ones I've been hankering after. So now I can happily anticipate the delivery.
